Philippians 1:6 “…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Sometimes it’s discouraging to see where we’ve got to. We still struggle in the same areas and don’t see the progress we’d hoped for. Or our life hasn’t panned out as we’d hoped. Things shouldn’t have turned out like this. Such thoughts are common, but take heart, God’s not finished with you yet.
Don Quixote has a vision in the musical ‘The Man from La Mancha’. As he stands with his armour-bearer Pablo Sanchez, they observe a run-down shack in the distance. Don Quixote describes in extravagant terms the grandeur of the elegant castle which lies ahead of them. But Panchez simply sees a run-down shack, and says it as he sees it. However, Don Quixote interrupts him sharply, “Stop! Stop right there! I won’t allow your facts to interfere with my vision!” If you’re feeling down on yourself today, I suspect God would say the same as Don Quixote to you. There’s your reality, and then there’s his vision. Don’t give up!
Helen Keller was both blind and deaf. In an interview she was asked if there could be anything worse than being blind. She replied: “Oh, yes! There is something worse than being blind. It’s being able to see and not having any vision.” Poor eyes may limit our sight, but worse than that, poor vision will limit our deeds.
Listen, you may have taken some knocks along the way, but thank God you can see – and beyond that, today, know that reality doesn’t preclude vision. Don’t allow poor vision to limit your deeds. He believes in you.
Thank you Lord that you will complete the good work you started in me. I choose to embrace your vision for my life today, even if it’s not all clear to me right now. Amen!
